THE COST OF FREEDOM

Charlie Kirk's Turning Point explains the parallel of Charlie Kirk's convictions with that of the pilgrims and the forefathers of our nation - America.
We only experience FREEDOM when we choose to do what is right in the sight of God, when it is heard in the chamber of our conscience.

Why did Charlie Kirk do what he did and why? First, what did Charlie Kirk do? Charlie confronted people about the things they believe. Of all the things a person could choose to do with their time and life, confronting people about their politics and religion is not how most people prefer to spend their time.

Recently, during my prayer time, it occurred to me that confronting people over their sins, ungodly lifestyles, and beliefs is precisely what the Old Testament prophets of Israel did.

Charlie Kirk's Turning Point and Isaiah

"Alas, sinful nation, People weighed down with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, sons who act corruptly! They have abandoned the LORD,

They have despised the Holy One of Israel; they have turned away from Him." (Isaiah 1:4)

"Your land is desolate, your cities are burned with fire, your fields—strangers are devouring them in your presence; It is desolation, as overthrown by strangers." (1:7)

"Learn to do good; Seek justice, Reprove the ruthless, Defend the orphan, Plead for the widow." (1:17)

"Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are as scarlet, they will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool." (1:18)

Charlie Kirk's Turning Point and Jeremiah

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations." (Jeremiah 1:5)

"Then I said, "Alas, Lord GOD! Behold, I do not know how to speak,

Because I am a youth." But the LORD said to me, "Do not say, 'I am a youth,' Because everywhere I send you, you shall go, and all that I command you, you shall speak." (1:6-7)

"See, I have appointed you this day over the nations and over the kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant." (1:10)

"Thus says the LORD, 'What injustice did your fathers find in Me, That they went far from Me and walked after emptiness and became empty?" (2:5)

"Has a nation changed gods when they were not gods? But My people have changed their glory for that which does not profit." (2:11)

"For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me,

The fountain of living waters, to hew for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns that can hold no water." (2:13)

Charlie Kirk's Turning Point and the Pilgrims

On September 6, 1620, the Mayflower finally set sail alone from Plymouth, England, with the passengers and supplies from the Speedwell. Of the 102 passengers aboard the Mayflower, approximately 50-53 people died during the first winter in Plymouth, Massachusetts. These deaths were caused by malnutrition, disease, and freezing weather; many were mothers who froze to death while covering their children to keep them warm.

The Pilgrims experienced persecution from the Church of England because they would not accept any head of the church other than Jesus Christ. The Pilgrims were English Separatists who wanted to escape persecution by the Church of England. They also stayed in Holland for twelve years to maintain their English language and cultural identity for their children, and to avoid potential future conflict in Europe. Their eventual goal was to establish a colony where they could worship freely and create a society based on their faith.

Alongside the Puritans were merchants, craftsmen, laborers, and their families who sought opportunity rather than religious freedom. Another term that could be used to describe these strangers is 'opportunists,' which is not as flattering but is equally true.

We cannot speak for all the people who sought a better life, but certainly, some people's desires were far more selfish than those who sought the freedom to worship God according to the dictates of their consciences.

Charlie Kirk's America is the America of the Puritans, who sought the freedom to live life according to God's holy Word. The Words that were once used when swearing in witnesses in a court of law, while placing their hand upon a Bible, were instructed to say, "I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me God." Can you imagine why the Word 'truth' was used so often? If you said, because the understanding of the day was that the Word of God was true, you would be correct. This behavior and belief were the America that Charlie Kirk labored so hard to turn our current generation, after such hard work by the left to turn previous generations from, so that they might take control of an America without a conviction to worship the God who created us for His pleasure and glory.

Charlie Kirk's Turning Point and the Forefathers

George Whitefield first preached in America in 1738 when he arrived in Savannah, Georgia, to begin his mission work. George first preached in England, where he was eventually turned out of the churches because of his emphasis upon the new birth in Christ. The Gospel message has never changed, and the Holy Spirit was poured upon many ministers of the early colonies, especially in the Northeast, where men like Jonathan Edwards, Gilbert Tennent and son, Theodore Frelinghuysen, Samuel Davies, and others.

For more than thirty years, these preachers lit a fire under the colonists that could not be quenched by those who heard, and to such an extent that the whole nation moved in the direction of Jesus Christ and his Gospel. The people began to pray as they were humbled beneath the fiery preaching of hell and damnation, salvation, you must be born again, repentance, faith, and the truth that the promised Messiah of Israel was born, lived a holy life, died a substitutionary Roman cross, and was raised from the dead for the remission of sins.

Charlie Kirk's Turning Point and the Gospel

So, why did Charlie Kirk decide to do something that most people would say, "Never talk politics or religion," and he talked about both in a big way? I never knew Charlie, so I can't say as if I did know him, but what I do know, having discipled with many Christian men, is that the best motivator for the believer is the cross of Jesus Christ. Charlie Kirk's Turning Point USA aims to return American citizens to the foundation upon which our nation was built. The American foundation is undoubtedly the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which must include the equality of all people, as all are made in the image of God; hence, all deserve to be respectful to their Creator by trust, obedience, and reverence that flows from the belief that He exists.
